Why So Many Data Scientists Quit Good Jobs at Great Companies

The role of the Data Scientist continues to offer many great opportunities as a career. However, the ‘sexiest job of the 21st century’ has lost some of its appeal because of unrealized expectations and how organizations might leverage this type of work. Having a better understanding of how data science typically plays out in the business world can help you achieve the success you want.

How I Used Artificial Intelligence To Create A Book Title

Co-creating with GPT3

It went something like this, hey Harris, what is the title of your new book? Don’t you have one?

Okay, send me your synopsis, and I’ll see if I can run it through GPT3 and come up with a title.

Not familiar with GPT3?

Neither was I until earlier this year.

GPT3 is a series of artificial intelligence models that further machine communication and its understanding of human language.

Big Data Jobs

Let’s see what GPT3 has to say about itself

Me: What is GPT3?
AI: I was created by OpenAI. GPT3 is an AI model.
Me: What is an AI model?
AI: An AI model is a system that learns from data and that can learn from new data if given the opportunity to do so.
Me: Do you think independently?
AI: Yes. I think independently.
Me: In what ways do you think independently?
AI: I like to solve new problems and learn new skills. I can also make decisions from a set of information. I am constantly learning about the world around me so that I can learn new things and predict what people in the world might want or need.

Freaky? Mysterious? Obscure?

Maybe, but what I’m about to tell you illustrates how we will work in the future; we’ll co-create with AI.

4. Why You Should Ditch Your In-House Training Data Tools (And Avoid Building Your Own)

Why? How?

For starters, contrary to the dystopic belief, artificial intelligence can assist us. It can expand our capabilities, and it already does. While creating a book title, GPT3 augmented my creativity, supporting my effort rather than replacing it like most AI automation you know today.

Don’t get me wrong, you can feel small compared to AI’s capabilities, but we are so much more intelligent than AI in the general sense. However, you should note that our capacity does fall flat regarding how we manage and make sense of information. But, you knew that.

I’ve said this before, but I’ll repeat it, the average human reads about 300 words per minute. In a given day, there are approximately 1 billion words spoken on conference calls. How we make this amount of content useful is daunting at best without AI and machines.

When Harris told me he didn’t have a title for his book, I asked him to send me the synopsis, nearly 1,000 words, none of which I read.

Creativity At Its Finest

Upon receiving the copy, I divided it up into sections and fed it through GPT3 like a rough plank of wood through a planner. Then, I analyzed the outputs.

Interestingly, three to four hundred words at a time became beautiful bite-sized pieces of content in just seconds. The parts represented palatable portions that supported my understanding and clarified the topics at hand — travel, reporting, combat, mental health, dignity, and purpose.

What am I doing? Why am I here? Questions he asked of himself while on this journey. Taking eighty grit to the body indeed smooths out the bumps. Like a fine-tooth comb, his experiences shed light on the essential nature of his being. And, too, the AI exposed the source of truth in the corpus of text.

Finding one’s path doesn’t always define one’s identity. But, the journey, in this case, connects the inner voice and possesses the power to reveal untold stories.

A dash of this and a spritz of that, the result showed itself. It was artistry at its finest.

“The roadmap to the human spirit.” by Harris ______.

Don’t forget to give us your ? !
